If you’ve been reading this blog for a while you know how much of a fan I am of everything Microcosm does. With social justice at their core, they create amazing work that inspires and takes down the patriarchy––one of my favorite past times. This week I was lucky enough to receive two great titles that allows the activist in all of us to be free and make the world a chiller and more accepting place.

Bicycle/Race

From the mind of Adonia Lugo comes a piece that intersects advocacy, city planning, and racism. She’s able to pain an impressive picture of Los Angeles (and beyond, in my opinion) from the perspective of two wheels. The piece is a cautionary tale of putting infrastructure before culture, as well as a coming-of-age story about power and identity. I’d say its a must read if you’re interested in advocacy and especially because of our current political climate––a must read!

Feminist Weed Farmer

Now, I know this topic can be polarizing for some. But if you’ve ever had questions about this very misunderstood plant, this book is for you. It’s a gardening guide to the world’s most magical and, like I said, misunderstood plant. Feminist Weed Farmer uses feminist framework to empower all growers and offers a fresh perspective on cannabis and the industry.

“Create the cannabis of your dreams” and learn a few things about how you can grow mindful medicine in your own backyard––just make sure its legal in your area! Madrone Stewart shares her hard-won knowledge gained from years of experience, zen meditation, and surviving as a woman in a male-dominated industry and society.

This book is an easy to follow manual to grow your own cannabis and beyond. If you’ve ever been curious or wanted to grow your work, its for you!
