Well, I’ve never worked with a pastor (and I never would) but here’s a few things to consider when looking for a couples therapist that specializes in pre-marital work:
🌟Find a licensed marriage and family Therapist—they’re trained to work with multiple people in a room!
🌟 Get ready to talk openly about the future, past trauma(s), and expectations for your union.
🌟Tell your individual therapist, if you have one, because both therapists can talk and help the process together. Remember, you’ll need to sign a ROI on both ends before this happens.
🌟 Couples/Pre-Marital is just like any other therapy, except there are more people in the room and there’s a focus on the relationship. It doesn’t mean you stay focused on relational needs but you’ll start there and add to your goals as you go through the process.
What do you think? What did I miss? Would you go to therapy with your partner(s)?
