Believe

In 2017 it was all about believing, but it wasn’t the first time I needed reassurance everything would work out.

“Don’t use your energy to worry. Use your energy to believe,” kept playing in my mind over and over again. I’m not sure where I heard this quote before, but it’s gotten be though a lot of hard times.

I think the first time I heard it was back in 2013 when I was about to take my comprehensive exam at USF.

I used it again when I applied to Mercer University.

I used it when I wasn’t sure I should be a therapist since it felt like I didn’t know what I was doing.

It was written all over my office when I was sitting for my comprehensive exam at Mercer.

It came into play when I opened my private practice and everyone said I’d be slow my first year (hey clients, we know better don’t we?).

It was tattooed on my brain when I sat for the GAMFT licensing exam.

I held it tight to my heart when I started teaching at KSU and I wasn’t sure I was up to the challenge (hey students, we know better don’t we?).

Now, it’s so much a part of me, that it’s in my blood. As I prepare to publish my first novel, I’m ready for whatever the world throws at me.
