What I Believe As A Therapist

As therapists I believe it is our duty to respect and acknowledge difference. It is a paramount part to helping others because each journey taken is special and contains needs unique to each individual. Difference is not scary, it is human.

We must acknowledge the fact that our experience is not that of our clients. We have to make room for the paths of others no matter how different they are to our own in order to do no harm and help create the change our clients want to see within themselves.

If your therapist isn’t doing this, it may be time to rethink the relationship by either letting them know your thoughts or finding a new therapist. Whatever direction you go in, may it be toward healing and self-acceptance.
